Getting started
-
Create an account. Sign up with Google or with an email address and password. Email sign-ups get a verification link; the account works before you click it, but do click it so a password reset can reach you later.
-
Run a search in the Playground. Open Search → Playground, type a query and press Run search. The dashboard’s own session is a valid credential, so this needs no key. The response panel shows the exact JSON the API returns. See Playground.
-
Mint an API key. Open Developers → API Keys and press New key. Give it a name, choose Live or Test, and copy the secret when it is shown: it is never shown again. See Account.
-
Call the API from your code. Send the key as a bearer token:
Terminal window curl "https://api.serpresult.com/v1/query?query=best+running+shoes&geo=us" \-H "Authorization: Bearer sk_live_your_key"The Quickstart has the same call in Node and Python and walks through the response.
What a search costs
Section titled “What a search costs”Every served search costs one credit. A search the provider could not
complete (502 or 504) is still charged, because the search was run; a
failure on our side (500) is not. Understanding
results walks through the response.
Your account starts with 100 free requests. They are granted once, at signup,
one grant per email address, and they never reset: spend them on your own
queries and calls answer 402 quota_exceeded until you pick a plan. A paid
plan stops at its monthly quota too, and to search past it you buy a credit
pack from the dashboard. Pricing and
quotas has the numbers for every plan.
Where to next
Section titled “Where to next”- Bulk queries for lists of up to 50 queries per request
- Targets & geo for what each of the six targets supports and the 193 countries you can search from
- Rate limits before you put a key into production
